Why teams move from Loggly

Loggly is a strong cloud-based platform for centralized log monitoring and analysis, with quick setup and a mature feature set. However, organizations that need to keep log data within their own infrastructure, retain logs for longer periods, or avoid subscription limits tied to daily ingestion volume may need a different approach.

Logmanager is built for these requirements. It can be deployed in your own environment, offers long-term immutable log retention based on the storage you choose, and prices on one predictable rate with the full feature set, not tiers that gate features and volume together. This gives security and compliance-focused teams greater control over where their logs reside, how long they are retained, and how their log-management costs scale.

What Loggly Costs

Loggly runs four fixed tiers (as of Semptember, 2026) : Lite is free, Standard is $79/month, Pro is $159/month, Enterprise is $279/month (all billed annually). Each one bundles a daily volume cap, a retention window, and a set of features together. Standard tops out at 1 GB/day and 15 days. Pro reaches 100 GB/day but still caps retention at 30 days. Only Pro and Enterprise get S3 archive export.

What moves the bill is your tier, not your usage. Want a few more days of retention or a bit more daily volume? You’re buying an entire new plan, features included whether you need them or not.

Logmanager as a Loggly Alternative – FAQ

  • Key differences between Logmanager and Loggly lie in the deployment model, control over data, and pricing.

Control over data: With Logmanager’s self-hosted deployment, you retain full control over your logs for as long as you need, using tamper proof log storage that meets audit and compliance requirements (GDPR, NIS2, industry regulations, and more). Logmanager can keep logs in your own infrastructure, ensuring complete data ownership and privacy, something Loggly cannot offer, since it runs exclusively on SolarWinds’ cloud.

Deployment: If you run a hybrid or on premises infrastructure, prefer to keep tools in house, have existing data center investments, or face latency concerns, Logmanager can run in your own environment. Prefer not to self host? Logmanager also runs as a managed cloud service. Loggly, by contrast, is cloud only. There is no self hosted or on premises option at any tier.

Pricing predictability: Logmanager offers straightforward pricing based solely on the volume of searchable logs stored each month, with the same full feature set at every tier. Loggly’s pricing is based on which of four fixed tiers you are on, each bundling a daily ingestion cap, a retention window, and feature access together.

  • Moving off Loggly isn’t a data migration in the traditional sense. Your log sources carry over as is. You repoint them at Logmanager instead of Loggly’s log endpoint, and Logmanager’s 140+ prebuilt parsers cover most common source types automatically, so data starts flowing without building parsing from scratch.

What doesn’t carry over: Loggly specific setup such as saved searches, dashboards, and alert rules has to be rebuilt in Logmanager. Its prebuilt dashboards and the no code Blockly builder make that faster than starting from a blank page, but it isn’t a one click import.

Typical timeline: the virtual appliance deploys in about 30 minutes. Getting sources onboarded and confirming everything’s flowing usually takes 1 to 2 hours, with another hour or so to rebuild saved searches and alerts.

One thing worth knowing before you start: this covers logs going forward, not what’s already in Loggly. If you need your historical Loggly data searchable in Logmanager too, that’s a separate step. It doesn’t transfer over automatically as part of the switch.

  • Loggly and Logmanager charge for logs on two different axes. Loggly sells fixed monthly tiers that bundle a daily ingestion cap together with a retention window and a set of features. Logmanager prices per GB of data actually stored, no matter how long you keep it. Because of that, a single “$X vs $Y” number would be misleading.

Here’s a concrete way to see the difference. As of September, 2026, Loggly’s Standard tier ($79/month) covers 1 GB/day, but only keeps it searchable for 15 days, and there’s no Loggly plan, at any price, that extends that same 1 GB/day to a full year. Even Enterprise ($279/month) tops out at 90 days of retention regardless of volume. On Logmanager, storing that same 1 GB/day for a full year (about 365 GB total) costs roughly $33 to $44/month self hosted, or $51 to $69/month on managed cloud, depending on annual or monthly billing. You’re not blocked by a plan ceiling. You just pay for how much you choose to keep.

Worth saying plainly: at very low volumes with short retention needs, Loggly’s free Lite tier or entry paid tier can cost about the same as or less than Logmanager. The gap shows up specifically once you want to retain data longer, or add volume, without being forced into a whole new tier.

  • Logmanager’s log management software is available in three tiers: Free, Scale, and Max. All packages include full log management capabilities, but differ in the amount of data storage for log retention as well as in additional services such as support and custom integrations.

    • The Free Plan is fully featured and supports up to 100 GB of storage, making it an ideal starter option for small organizations.
    • Scale starts at 100 GB of storage and is well-suited for organizations with log retention and security requirements.
    • Max is tailored to meet custom enterprise needs.

For more information, see the Logmanager’s Pricing page.

  • Logmanager is a hardened appliance that ensures the confidentiality and integrity of data. It prevents any manipulation, deletion, or alteration of logs (SSH is not running on the appliance, so access to the operating system is restricted). Additionally, Logmanager secures data during transfer, uses secure storage mechanisms, and provides role-based access control to enhance strict security measures.

  • You can get started with the Logmanager Free Plan and enjoy a full featured log management solution. The only limitation is that it supports up to 100 GB of log storage, giving you plenty of space to start collecting and analyzing logs right away.

Once this limit is reached, the system automatically manages your data by overwriting the oldest entries with new ones. This ensures that you always have access to the most recent log data without having to manually clear space or adjust settings.
